Hosting SLA Keuring

Hosting SLA Keuring Any members in good standing may host a Keuring at their farm or area site. Simply print and fill out the Keuring Booking Form and mail to the SLA Office. This form must be submitted to the board for approval and scheduling.

Once approved, the Keuring will be announced on the Keuring Calendar.

Guidelines for Organizing a Keuring: The Basics

Familiarize yourself with all the forms and information on the main Keuring page including the Keuring Handbook for Exhibitors, the Breed Standards, the Keuring score sheets, the divisions and the awards.

Any SLA member may host a Keuring on the site of their choice, however in order to cover the expenses, you must have a minimum of 25 and no more than 35 llamas scheduled for each day.

These numbers may come from your own farm, and could be reached by including a few Bloodstock llamas, or you may choose to gather other suri breeders from your area to fill up to the required number.

Obtain a Keuring Booking Form using this link or from the SLA office. Print out and complete the form and return it to the SLA office (the address is on the bottom of this page).

Host farms will be required to hold proper farm liability insurance.

SLA encourages two day inspections with the minimum number of llamas met each day.

SLA will provide the ribbons for the Division awards.

Hosts, Stewards, Clerks and Keuring Management will be responsible for enforcing all SLA Keuring Rules. Keurings should be fun, educational, low-key events. They may be held on your farm or ranch, or at a facility near you. Hosts may elect to keur only their own llamas (provided they have 25 or more, including bloodstock) or invite suri breeders from their area to be part of the event.

Fill out an Application for Keuring on each llama who will be in the keuring and submit the application to the SLA office with the appropriate fees.
